TOURS
La Jolla Kayak Tours - 1.5 hours
La Jolla kayak tours have become one of the most popular activities in San Diego. Our kayak tours in La Jolla take place in La Jolla’s Ecological Preserve, a marine life sanctuary and home to the seven sea caves and the La Jolla Sea Lion and Harbor Seal colonies.
Our stable, sit on top kayaks are easy for beginners to paddle and are a great group activity, especially for families!
On our La Jolla kayak tours, you can expect to see dolphin, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and a variety of different bird life. On many days, it’s common to see local fish life from the kayak, including Garibaldi and (harmless!) Leopard Sharks. Our expert Certified Kayak Guides are familiar with these local La Jolla marine residents and can offer interesting facts and history about the surrounding area.
Kayaking in La Jolla offers the visitor and locals alike the chance to view San Diego’s coastline from an entirely different perspective. Instead of looking out onto the ocean from the shore, we get to look to the shore from the ocean! And because kayaks are non-motorized, they are quiet and eco-friendly. It’s a healthy activity too. Kayak tours in La Jolla are a tour in San Diego like no other and one you’ll remember long after you paddle ashore!
La Jolla Kayak and Snorkel Tours - 2.5 hours
Combine the best of both worlds above and below the water, kayaking and snorkeling in La Jolla!
Our La Jolla kayak and snorkel tours are a combination of our popular kayak tours of La Jolla and our special snorkel tours of La Jolla.
We begin our adventure on our stable sit on top kayaks and paddle through La Jolla’s Ecological Reserve until we land on a spot with clear visibility and a nice assortment of La Jolla marine life. Expect to see abundant Garibaldi, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, bait fish, and (harmless!) Leopard Sharks. La Jolla’s Ecological Reserve has been a marine sanctuary since the early 1970’s and the fish seem to know it!
OEX in La Jolla is a Five Star PADI Dive Center and is the only full-service dive shop in La Jolla so our certified guides know La Jolla’s Underwater Park better than anybody. They love what they do and it shows!
Kayak Diving in La Jolla
Kayak diving allows you to get to dive sites that would be difficult to get to by kicking from shore. The La Jolla kelp forest is an easy paddle and there are also kayak scuba dive trips to Scripps Canyon.
Part of the fun of kayak diving is the journey to the site. Our diving kayaks are stable, fast, and they hold a mass of gear. On the way to La Jolla Kelp you can expect to see Sea Lions, Dolphin, Grey Whales in the spring, and numerous species of birds. And that’s on the way to the site! Once you’re there and underwater, expect to see multitudes of fish, more Sea Lions, and whatever else happens by that day. And if that wasn’t enough, gentle swells will push you back to shore on your paddle back.
Kayak diving is recommended for those already comfortable in California’s waters. If you’re new to the area, it may be recommended that you complete a shore dive with a guide prior to your kayak dive.
